Western Power - Kwinana Power Station Upgrade
The existing Kwinana to South Fremantle 132kV transmission line was upgraded in 2007. The upgrade was to provide a consistent and reliable power supply to the South Fremantle substation, including reliable power while repairs and maintenance work are carried out. The transmission line was upgraded from split-phase to dual circuit, with the existing overhead earth wire to be replaced with an optical fibre ground wire (OPGW).
Horizon Power
Horizon Power has commenced work to build the most efficient gas-fired power station on the Pilbara’s North West Interconnected System (NWIS). The site of the power station is situated next to Horizon Power’s Head Office in Karratha on land owned by Horizon Power and directly adjacent to Horizon Power’s 132KV substation, giving it a direct link into the local network.
Collie – Bluewaters 1 Coal-Fired Power Stations
Griffin Energy is constructing the first of two 208 MW coal-fired power stations at the proposed Coolangatta industrial estate, 10km northeast Collie. Commissioning of the Bluewaters 1 base load power station is expected by late 2008.
Thiess Kentz – Woodman Point
Thiess Kentz has just finished the installation of instrument/electrical equipment for the odour control facility at Woodman Point waste water treatment plant in WA. In addition they also installed instrumentation and electrical equipment associated with the chemical treatment, chemical storage and BioWay section of Woodman point waste water treatment odour control facility.
Thiess Kentz – Beenyup Projects
Thiess Kentz have completed the installation of instrumentation and electrical equipment for the new secondary sedimentation tanks on the W2WA site in Beenyup in February 2009. Additionally in July 2009 Thiess Kentz completed the installation and commission of elect / instrumentation equipment for the W2WA group water replenishment trial at Beenyup.
The Alkimos Wastewater Scheme
An Alliance between the Water Corporation and the private sector was formed in December 2006 for the design and construction of the Alkimos Wastewater Treatment Scheme. The Alkimos Water Alliance is a commercial venture involving the Water Corporation and a joint venture between Brookfield Multiplex, McMahon Contractors and Züblin and various other sub-contractors.
Austal Ships - Ship Yard
In 1998 Austal entered the patrol boat market securing an order for eight Bay Class vessels for the Australian Customs Service. Sizeable orders from other Australian and International agencies, including the Royal Australian Navy, have cemented the company’s place among the world’s elite patrol vessel builders. In 2001, Austal became the first company to supply the US military with a high speed vessel, the Theatre Support Vessel (TSV).
